A mobile juice cart
is one that can move from one place to another within a pre-defined
region. The cart is moved either by
attaching to a bicycle or manually like a push cart. The modern versions of the
juice carts use electric blenders or juicers whereas the traditional one uses
manual driven machines to take out juices from fruits and vegetables.
In order to start
your own mobile juice cart in India, you would need to ensure that the
paperwork related to registrations and licenses are done as per laid down rules
and regulations.
Mandatory
Licenses
a. As per the latest regulations even
small time food manufacturers like the mobile juice cart owner needs to procure the FSSAI license
before starting to sell juices. This is to ensure that the juices are being
derived from standardized quality raw materials, in this case fruits and
vegetables and the juice being served to customers is apt and safe for human consumption.
Any food operator who does not possess the FSSAI license and is making, selling
or storing food items is doing so against the law of the land. The punishment
for carrying out a food business without the license/registration is
imprisonment for up to six months along with being charged to pay certain
amount of money as penalty.
The
penalty for selling food, in this case, juices that are not of the nature as
per quality demanded is liable to pay penalty. The punishment for
manufacturing, selling, storing or distributing unsafe food again attracts
imprisonment and payment of fine.
A mobile
juice cart holder needs to apply for the basic FSSAI license registration. Once
he receives the 14-digit number, he must make sure to display the certificate
at an appropriate place in the premises of the cart within business hours.
Along with this he needs to put up the hygiene related golden rules as a
guarantee to his customers that he is following all norms laid down by the Food
Safety and Security Authorities.
In order
to get the basic registration, the owner can apply online using the Food
Licensing and Registration System and follow the instructions mentioned. Some
of the key documents that need to be uploaded are: - the Identity proof and
address proof of the owner along with the ownership proof/rental agreement of
the cart, list of food categories being made and handled at the cart and signed
Form-A. The certificate should be renewed before the existing registration
expires.
b. Trade
or Health License
that is obtained from the Health Department or the municipal corporation. This
is to ensure that the establishment is operating as per rules pertaining to
public health and hygiene.
