The FSSAI law has been established under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, which consolidates several acts and orders that have so far handled food issues in various ministries and departments.
FSSAI has been created to establish science-based standards for food items and to regulate their manufacture, storage, distribution, sale and import to ensure the availability of safe and healthy food for human consumption.
The PFA Act of 1954 covers food standards, general sampling procedures, analysis of foods, the powers of authorized officials. It protects India against impure, unsafe and fraudulently labelled food. This work can be done under FSSAI.
The FSSAI Registration for your Food Business is mandatory since it prevents other users to ensure that it does not infringe the quality of your food Business. FSSAI Regulations, consisting of 23 sections completed by five Schedules, specify the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (Transaction of Business and Procedures for the Scientific Committee and Scientific Panels).
The Food Authority shall ensure the high level of collective scientific competence and expertise to guarantee that the constitution of the Committee or the Panels reflects the diversity of scientific issues and approaches in India.
